Over 40% of women are affected by unwanted facial hair, which remains a social taboo that can cause anxiety, embarrassment, and even contribute to psychological distress
Unwanted facial hair is also a major problem for transgender women. We welcome transgender clients.
Electrolysis works by applying electricity at the root of each individual hair to permanently destroy it. This is a permanent solution for unwanted facial hair.
This epilation technique produces heat, using a high frequency, short wave diathermy current to cauterise the follicle, eventually destroying the follicle.
Please contact us if you would like more information on this treatment.
What does the treatment involve?
A fine probe is inserted into the hair follicle followed by a small charge of electricity which cauterises the root. This releases the hair and is then removed with tweezers.
Over a period of time the root is rendered inactive and can no longer produce hairs.
Will it hurt?
A small amount of discomfort may be felt due to the heat generated within the hair follicle. This cannot be avoided. The majority of clients find this tolerable as the results far outweigh any temporary discomfort felt.
Some reddening of the skin takes place and in most cases disappears after 30 mins depending on the skin type.
How long does it take?
Clearance rates vary from one client to another. Time is allocated to individual growths and full removal of superfluous hair at each sitting is generally recommended. Regular treatments are necessary to achieve the desired results.
Overall we expect to treat an individual for a period of 2-2½ years for permanent removal. Prospective clients should remember hair does not grow over night and cannot be removed permanently within a small number of treatments. Most clients have suffered with the hair growth for many years.
What results can I expect?
After undergoing electrolysis and following the recommendations of the therapist regarding your individual needs, you can expect the permanent removal of unwanted hair.
Results will be obvious as your treatment progresses and the level of time you initially start with reduces. This restores your confidence and knowledge that you made the correct decision.
